The only thing certain and incontrovertible about what happens at death is that your body’s elements return to nature. As for any kind of an afterlife, reincarnation, mindstream continuation, or new cosmic adventure, the reality is no one really knows for certain, although a lot of people have very strong opinions about life after death!
When asked about an afterlife, Henry David Thoreau replied, “One world at a time.” A rather Zen-like answer in that one should live fully, completely, and with deep awareness of each present moment. As the great Sufi poet, Hafiz, wrote 700 years ago: “Don’t die again with that holy ruby mine inside still unclaimed when you could be swinging a golden pick with each step.”
Afterlife? Who knows?
Be compassionate today
And you will be fine.
