It is hard to control birth. I mean, really, when the baby is ready. Oh, you’re referring to preventing pregnancy!
For a Zen Buddhist, questions like this result in a bemused shrug. In Buddhism there is a hesitation to interfere with the process of life but, also, contraception is not prohibited. The fundamental issue is that the use or non-use of birth control is a personal matter.
As the classic phrase goes, “Rather than being concerned with what other people are doing or not doing, become more concerned with what you are doing or not doing.”
Do you want a child?
Or do you not want a child?
It’s your choice, not mine.
